The Wrocław University of Technology stand at the Thursday’s EU Funds Picnic organized at the Pergola near the Centennial Hall enjoyed huge interest. Citizens of Wrocław and tourists took photos of themselves in our students’ rally car and watched the Mars rover designed at our University.
The Wrocław University of Technology stand was the most conspicuous in the large tent situated between the multimedia fountain and the Wrocław Congress Centre. Various institutions affiliated with the Provincial Office and beneficiaries of EU funds were presenting there, including our University, demonstrating the way in which it made use of EU subsidies.
In the middle of the stand, the rally car of the PWR team was presented. Visitors could also see the “Scorpio” Mars rover, designed by students from the “Off-Road” Scientific Circle that took second place in last year’s international competition in the USA. The rover travelled through the Pergola area, attracting huge interest.
“Most often we are asked if our rover really was on Mars.” – laughed Szymon Dzwończyk from the “Off-Road” Scientific Circle.
The building of the rally car and the Mars rover was co-financed from EU funds. Also, thanks to EU financial support, the students could participate in the international competition.
Visitors of the Wrocław University of Technology stand received various souvenirs, e.g. puzzles, pick-up sticks, sweets, as well as University publicity materials and a special Pryzmat publication describing the projects for which EU funding was used by the University.
The Pergola area was very crowded. Visitors walked between the stands, took photos of clay figurines from the Bolesławiec ceramic works, tasted regional dishes, and enjoyed the concerts.
The event was organized by the Dolnośląskie Provincial Office on the occasion of 10th anniversary of Poland joining EU.
