The light electric scooter designed at Wrocław University of Technology has been chosen the “Soczewka Focusa 2013” (“Focus’s Lens 2013”) in the category of technological innovations. The work of students from the Scientific Circle of Vehicles and Mobile Robots won with a significant majority of votes over four other nominated projects. “We didn’t expect to win the competition but the motivation in our team was huge.” – admits Radosław Czahajda, the team leader – “We decided that since we’d been nominated to the prize, it is worth dedicating our time to the project, strongly promoting our invention, and fighting for success. And it paid off.” It is worth reminding that in July 2013, the scooter took third place at the “Smart Moto Challenge” international competition in Barcelona. Unfortunately, just after the handing ceremony the vehicle was stolen. Since the beginning of the year, the students have been working on a new, upgraded version of the vehicle. The prototype should be ready at the end of April. The scooter will be light (only 47 kg of weight), agile, and very cheap in operation: after charging the batteries, it should be able to travel 70 km, which should cost the user less than 1 PLN.
