Representatives of 17 universities, including Wrocław Universty of Technology, take part in the Polish educational mission in Brazil.
The mission starts on Tuesday and will last until the next Monday but already now the representatives of our University participate in the educational fair in Sao Paulo.
The team that went to South America included e.g. Hanna Własak from the Admission Department and Ewa Mroczek from the Department of International Cooperation.
“I was surprised by the number of people interested in our University who earlier didn’t even think about such country as Poland. Interestingly enough, many Brazilians of Polish provenance and even with Polish-sounding names came to us.” – says Hanna Własak from the Admission Department – “Many of them desire to study not as much in Europe, but precisely in Poland. Also the interest in Polish language courses is high. During the Polish presentation, we were surprised by the high level of knowledge about our country: the Brazilians without problems recognized John Paul II, Kraków, and even… pierogi!”
The agenda of the mission includes meetings with students, with authorities of Brazilian universities, as well as workshops and presentations.
The Polish mission to Brazil is organized as part of the Polish government campaign “Ready, Study, Go! Poland”, initiated in 2012, which aims at internationalization of Polish universities. Polish delegation was composed of representatives of universities, technical universities, medical universities, universities of life sciences, military universities, non-public universities and higher vocational schools.
In October 2013, Poland joined the Brazilian scholarship programme “Ciência sem fronteiras” (“Science without frontiers”) which aims at granting 110 000 scholarships all over the world until 2015.
