TJ&nanoIP 2014 – this is the name of a scientific meeting organized by nanoengineers and students of the Wrocław University of Technology Division of Microstructure and Nanostructure Metrology. In the days 5-8 March, they will discuss e.g. the topics of near-field microscopy and ion techniques. The country-wide seminar “Ion techniques” will be organized already for the 13th time. For the last three years, it has been accompanied by the “Surface Nanoengineering” Winter camp. “It is mainly addressed to students writing their diploma theses and to young researchers.” – say the organizers, members of the “SPENT” Student Scientific Association. In connection with the opening of the Laboratory of Examination and Production of Nanostructures, the agenda of this year’s Winter camp has been extended with the topics of FIB, i.e. nano- and microstructures examination and production techniques employing focused beams of ions and electrons. Phil Prewett from the University of Birmingham will be an international guest of the seminar. Apart from speeches delivered by specialists, the programme includes scientific circle workshops, and presentation of research equipment. “We will also demonstrate the capabilities of our microscope.” – announces Michał Świątkowski from the Division of Microstructure and Nanostructure Metrology. The conference will be held at the Wrocław University of Technology “Radość” Training and Conference Centre in Szklarska Poręba. isz Translation: Dariusz Więcławski
