13.02.2014 | Aktualizacja: 13.02.2014 10:24

140 foreigners will start their studies with the beginning of the new semester at Wrocław University of Technology. During the Introductory Days, they will become acquainted with our (and their) University.
They will meet with University authorities, representatives of various departments, student organizations, as well as visit their faculties. They will attend a health and safety course and learn much practical information about student life in Wrocław and at the University.
The Introductory Days for international students are organized jointly by the Admission Department and International Cooperation Department.
“For the Summer semester, there are 74 students coming as part of the LLP (Lifelong Learning Programme) Erasmus programme – mainly from Spain, France, Turkey, Germany, and Italy. Also, we will have 12 students from the Exchange programme (mainly from Mexico and South Korea). They will study at almost all of our faculties.” – says Anna Wójcik from the International Cooperation Department. Apart from the Erasmus exchange students, which are received by the International Cooperation Department, the Admission Department expects further 67 students. “All of them will start a full programme of second-cycle degree studies in Polish or English.” – says Ewa Markowska from the Admission Department.
Most of the international students will come from Ukraine, and then from India, China, Belarus, and Spain. But there are also students from other European countries: Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, as well as from outside of Europe: Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Somalia, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Turkey, Palestine, Azerbaijan, and Egypt.
“We have candidates for practically all faculties. The Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are the most popular ones. As far as the language of instruction is concerned, they divide almost in half. A very slight majority will study in English.” – announces Markowska.
Among the international students there are also scholars of the Polish government, as well the governments of other countries (e.g. Saudi Arabia, as part of the King Abdullah’s Scholarship Programme).
Introductory Days for international students will be held on 20th and 24th February in the Main Building and at the individual faculties of Wrocław University of Technology.
