The 10 best teams qualified for the finals. They had to face a significant challenge and solve difficult chemical problems. The competition was held at the Wrocław University of Technology Faculty of Chemistry and was a part of the 16th Lower Silesian Science Festival.
As in the previous years, the competition consisted of two stages: the qualifications and the finals. In the qualifications, the competitors filled in a multiple choice test. The 10 best teams that qualified for the finals had to face a real challenge and solve difficult chemical problems.
The winner of the competition was the team from the 14th Liceum Ogólnokształcące (Comprehensive High School) in Wrocław, composed of Joanna Michalik and Grzegorz Świątko. The team from the 1st Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Głogów (Aleksandra Blida, Filip Sawczak) was second, while the representation of the 2nd Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Świdnica (Natalia Jabłońska, Michał Gajecki) took third place.
Laureates and finalists of the competition obtained attractive prizes, e.g. voice recorders, academic calculators, earphones, USB flash drives, bags, T-shirts, mugs, chemical dictionaries, books, note-books, and illuminated balls. The prizes were sponsored by the Wrocław University of Technology Faculty of Chemistry, the Office of the Marshal of Dolnośląskie Province, Promotion Department of the city of Wrocław, Alchem, Witko, PCC Rokita and Stepan. As usual, sweet refreshments for the competitors and their tutors were provided by Izabela Zając’s cafe.
We would like to congratulate the laureates and wish them further success. At the same time, we invite pupils from high schools to take part in the next year’s edition.
