In the Wrocław University of Technology Main Building the exhibition “Wrocław University of Technology in the paintings of the Faculty of Architecture students” has been organized. “A wide range of buildings that have become a key part of the Wrocław landscape make a good object for painters.” – says Prof. Leszek Maluga, Head of the Sub-Institute of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture.
“For the exhibition, we mainly chose paintings presenting the fronts of the buildings from the side of the street. Less official spaces, such as interiors of the courtyards or hidden passages are also interesting so we are planning to make it the topic of next year’s exhibition.” – explains Prof. Maluga.
The presented paintings were made as part of classes run by the employees of the Sub-Institute of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, e.g. courses attended by 2nd and 3rd year students, outdoor works made during Summer internships and as part of the activity of the Scientific Circle “Visual Arts Activity Group – Informal Meetings”, headed by Barbara Siomkajło, Master of Architecture.
The authors of the paintings wanted to reflect the character of the University campus by combining tradition and modernity. It is not possible to look individually at each part of it, they combine and permeate each other. Twelve of the presented paintings were used in this year’s calendar issued by the University’s Department of Marketing and Promotion. There is also a plan to issue a book with selected works of the students presenting the buildings of the campus.
The exhibition will last until 27th January.
