Already for the 40th time, the Saint Barbara’s Day Academic Choirs Festival will be held at the University. 14 choirs from the entire country (including 3 from Wrocław University of Technology) will take part in the event, as well as the Symphonic Orchestra of the Wałbrzych Music School Complex. During the inauguration (4th December, 7 PM) that will take place at Wrocław University of Technology Aula, we will be able to listen to the performance of Wrocław University of Technology Academic Choir directed by Małgorzata Sapiecha-Muzioł and the “Poznańskie Słowiki” boys’ and men’s choirs from the Poznań Philharmonic. The remaining concerts on that day will be organized at Aula Leopoldina (Uniwersytecki Sq. 1, Wrocław). On 5th December, at 7 PM, we will hear the “Consonanza” Chamber Choir of Wrocław University of Technology, as well as the choirs of other Wrocław universities: Wrocław Medical University, Academy of Music, Military Academy of Land Forces, and the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences. The jubilee concert (6th December, 7 PM) will see a common performance of the Wrocław University of Technology Academic Choir and the Wrocław University of Technology Miners’ Choir. On 7th December (Saturday) at 6 PM we will hear choirs from various cities in Poland. There will be performances by: the Chamber Choir of the Academy of Music in Poznań, the academic choirs of University of Białystok and University of Toruń, as well as of Lublin University of Technology and Warsaw University of Technology. The final that will be held on Sunday at the Church of Our Lady, Queen of Peace (Ojców Oblatów St. 1, Wrocław) will commence at 7 PM. The Symphonic Orchestra of the Wałbrzych Music School Complex, together with academic choirs from Silesian University of Technology and Wrocław University of Technology will perform John Rutter’s “Requiem”, with Olga Ksenicz as a soloist. The festival is organized by the Wrocław University of Technology Academic Choir. All the concerts are managed by Iwona Klein-Polak – a specialist in choral art and voice emission. Admittance to all the concerts is free.
