On 21-22 November, the annual seminar „Wrocław Bridge Days” will be held at the Wrocław University of Technology Congress Centre. This year, it will be dedicated to the issue of urban bridges. In the last few years, an intensive modernization of city infrastructure and city transport networks can be observed in Poland. Large projects are being carried out e.g. in Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Kraków, Opole, Puławy, Toruń, and Wrocław. These include some very interesting, innovative solutions, like the bridge on Wisła in Kwidzyn that will be the topic of the lecture delivered by Krzysztof Żółtogórski, a professor at Gdańsk University of Technology. Urban bridges are more intensively exploited than those being part of expressways and motorways. Therefore they get degraded much quicker. One of the aims of this year’s Wrocław Bridge Days is to acquaint the participants with the latest bridge designs, material solutions, and technological solutions that ensure proper durability of bridges. The seminar was preceded by a one-day workshop dedicated to the inspection of bridges. A detailed programme of Wrocław Bridge Days is available [here]. km, Translation: Dariusz Więcławski
