For the first time, Wrocław University of Technology students will take part in the Indian Summer School programme. On 7 February, they will start their one-month stay at the Parul Group of Institutes in Vadodar “Apart from attending classes, they will also have tours of the Gujarat state, learn the Indian culture, as well as the basics of the Hindi language, and take part in other events organized by the university.” – says Kamila Ludwikowska, PhD, from the Wrocław University of Technology International Office, the programme organizer. She adds that students of six faculties signed up for the programme: the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Electronics, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Computer Science and Management, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. “To prepare them for the visit, in January our Office organized a cultural workshop on India.” – says Kamila Ludwikowska. The workshop was conducted by Aneta Krejczy – cultural expert specializing in Indology, a qualified tour guide, and a traveller. She talked about everyday life in India, about cultural behaviours, differences between the roles of genders, treating of women, and many other topics. The students also learned about important issues related to health and security – the required vaccinations, preventative treatment, diet, or weather. In June and July 2014, Wrocław University of Technology hosted a group of Indian students from the Parul Group of Institutes. As part of the Summer School programme, they attended classes at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering for six weeks. They also learned Polish and got acquainted with the history and culture of Poland (see here and here). Now, the Polish students will revisit them in Vadodar – one of the most modern and most important scientific centres in India, which has 22000 students – future engineers of various disciplines.
