Sunday, 11 January, will see the 23rd Grand Finale of the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity). This year, the Orchestra’s volunteers will collect money for equipment needed to treat children in pediatric and oncology wards and for healthcare for the elderly. Students from Wrocław University of Technology scientific circles will join them. As in the previous editions, a stage will be placed at the Wrocław Market Square, where concerts, as well as various demonstrations and major auctions will be held. One will be able to listen e.g. to concerts by Lipali, AudioFeels, Krzysztof Zalewski, and Muchy. The agenda also includes first aid workshops, heritage tram rides, beating of the record of the amount of whale oil drunk in open air, as well as many other attractions that are listed on the Orchestra’s Wrocław Division website. Members of the “Apanonar” Students Motorcycle Club affiliated at Wrocław University of Technology decided to join the Grand Finale. They will organize a bazaar with cakes made by them on Solny Sq., where they plan to come on their vehicles. “There will be an opportunity to take a photo with our motorcycles, sit and talk to us, ask questions about the vehicles and, of course, taste our cakes.” – says Iwo Kapciński, “Apanonar” President – “It’s hard to say now how many motorcycles will come but I assure you there will be a lot to look at. We will surely present heritage models and prototypes.”
“Apanonar” members will cook the cakes by themselves. All the money earned on selling the cakes will be transferred to the Orchestra’s account. The students will be present at the bazaar from 10 AM to about 6-7 PM. Another Wrocław University of Technology’s scientific circle, the “Allin” from the Faculty of Chemistry, will participate in the Grand Finale in the “KOM” (Creative Multifunctional Centre) in Milicz, where they will make demonstrations of chemical phenomena. lucy Translation: Dariusz Więcławski
