A group of students from our University, members of the “TK Games” scientific circle, are working on a cRPG game. They want to take the players back in time to the medieval reality, rooted in fantasy world It will be possible to see the first elements of the game during the “Hall of Games” computer game fair in November, where the “TK Games” scientific circle will have its own stand. The authors of the game will present some graphics and music promoting the game. Maybe there will even be an opportunity to play the game for a while or see the recording of a short play. cRPG (computer Role Playing Games) are computer RPG games in which the player controls the protagonist, moving in his fictitious world. The development of the hero during the following stages constitutes an important element of the game. The examples of cRPG games include such worldwide popular titles, as “Baldur’s Gate”, “Dragon Age”, or the Poland-made “The Witcher”. In the “Dynasty of Shadows” the player will get to know the plot from the perspective of three characters – a thief, a barbarian from the Northern tribe named Fenriti, and a paladin, i.e. a knight with magical abilities. The gameplay will be intertwined with movies presenting the history of main characters. The authors assure that the films will be climatic and kept in the style of a gloomy comic book. The students are not willing to disclose to many details yet but we already know that due to the thief, the fates of all the three characters will entwine and they won’t be very happy about that. “We started our work in February. We hope we will manage to finish the game within a year.” – says Maciej Golec – “We are considering two options: either we will use our own funds and work in our free time to make a simplified version or, if we manage to find an investor or collect money through crowdfunding, we will be able to work on the game full-time and create a product reaching far beyond our plans. We will make an RPG of our dreams and present it to the whole world. “Dynasty of Shadows” is created by three Wrocław University of Technology students: Adrian Jabłonka and Maciej Golec, students of Computer Science at the Faculty of Electronics, and Artur Szczęch, a student of Electronics at the same Faculty. Their team comprises also people from outside of our University, e.g. Michał Klimecki, a graphic designer and photographer, Rafał Borowy, the head 3D graphic designer, and Doncho Neshkov, a 3D graphic designer and animator from Bulgaria. In the game one will also be able to see 3D models made by Dorian Janiak, a Wrocław University of Technology student and also a member of the “TK Games” scientific circle. They also managed to involve the Wrocław University of Economics’ Choir who performed two songs, composed by Artur Szczęch. The songs were recorded in the acoustic chamber at Technopolis, thanks to the help of Bartłomiej Kruk from the Student Scientific Circle at the Polish Section of Audio Engineering Society AS. Two professional musicians from the Audio Project Studio take care of sound mixing and mastering. The game has its own Facebook profile that has gathered over 800 fans in a short time. Lucyna Róg
