The artist was enthusiastically welcomed by our
employees and students. His concert, performed as part of the inauguration of
the academic year on Wednesday, attracted real crowds.
It doesn’t
happen every day that people of such calibre perform at Wrocław University of
Technology, so the interest in the concert was very high. The University’s Main
Building Aula was filled to the brim. Most of the seats were occupied long
before the start of the concert. Those who were not so far-sighted had to stand
or sit on the carpet in the aisle between benches.
The concert
was very climatic. The windows were shaded and the red light added to the
ambience. The musician asked the audience not to take photographs with flash.
It was only allowed to take photographs during first five minutes of the
concert, so later nothing disrupted the listeners and they could focus on the
artist’s performance.
Możdżer
started with “She Said She Was a Painter”. “Although in fact she wasn’t but
that’s another story.” – said the artist to the audience.
He also
played “Poland” from his last year’s album under the same title and combined motifs
composed by Krzysztof Komeda.
The public
applauded the artist very lively. So much that he played an encore – his
interpretation of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
After the
concert, it was possible to buy CDs with Możdżer’s music and even get his
autograph.
Możdżer’s
concert closed the official inauguration of the 70th academic year
in the history of Wrocław University of Technology.
