Starting from this academic year, Wrocław University of Technology students and doctoral students can leave their children under supervision close to the University. The “mSzkrab” children’s club, maintained by the “MANUS” Foundation, starts operation.

“This is the first university children’s club in Wrocław.” – says Kamil Nawirski, President of the “MANUS” Foundation. The work on the launching of the club started in 2011.

The club is located in the T-4 dorm at 22 Górnickiego St. (15 minutes on foot from the University main campus). It is dedicated to the children of Wrocław University of Technology students and doctoral students between 1 and 3 years of age.

It is too often that students, especially women, resign from continuing their education when a child appears in their families. Students should not bear the costs of childcare. That’s why the fees are such that they cover the real costs of club maintenance – declares “MANUS” Foundation.

Any student or doctoral student of our University that has a valid student’s ID may use the services of mSzkrab. The club has an online registration system made by Computer Science students at our University. It allows to choose easily the time and length of the child’s stay, as well as inform the employees of the child’s individual needs and treats of personality. The system allows to register a child for a period of up to 5 hours, for a maximum of 3 times a week. The club can accommodate up to 22 children at the same time. “We decided on a rotation system so that as many children as possible could benefit from the club.” – says  Nawirski.

The club has an area of 300 sqm. There are two spacious rooms for playing and leisure, a dining room, a kitchen, two locker rooms, a toilet adapted to the needs of the youngest children (with baby changing table and shower), a separate toilet for people with disabilities, as well as crew rooms for the personnel. Next to the building, there is a fenced playground with a slide, swing, and sandpit.

The club still needs to be entered into the register of nurseries and children clubs by the Mayor of Wrocław. But the students can already register their babies at www.mszkrab.manus.pl
