Race cars of 80 student teams will compete on
the race track in Varano de’Melegar. The competition starts on Friday and will
last until Monday. PWR Racing Team tested their car just before the event. The
results are promising.
Thanks to
the courtesy of the Wrocław Driving Technique Improvement Centre, the students
could carry out tests on the track, setting the vehicle parameters in various
ways to prepare for the individual stages of the competition. During the last
two weeks, their RT-05 has travelled over 200 km in preparation for the event.

“Two weeks
ago we started in the Student Formula in the Czech Republic and we took 18th
place. But that was just a warm-up.“ – says Magda Klimek from the PWR Racing Team PR crew – “The Italian event
will be a real test for us. 80 teams will take part in the competition,
including 55 with a combustion engine and 25 with an electric engine. So, the rivalry will be tough. But after the tests we are optimistic. Our
car performed very well and all the parts work reliably.”
Students
from the PWR Racing Team will leave for Italy on Wednesday after 8 PM. They
will travel in two vans, with the car carried in a trailer. In Italy, they will
sleep, like the other teams, on a separated camping field, where they will
place also a large workshop-tent.
RT-05 will
undergo technical examination, assessment of the design, documentation and
business presentations by the jury, and the so-called dynamic tests, i.e.
acceleration test, driving a figure eight, and a long-distance, 22-kilometre
race (Endurance). The number of points earned during each of the tests will be
summed up and give a rank in the final classification.
Apart from
the team composed of students from Wrocław University of Technology and Wrocław
University of Economics, in Italy Poland will be represented also by the Cerber
Motorsport team from Białystok University of Technology.
Student
Formula competitions are organized by the International Association of
Automotive Industry Engineers. Students from the PWR Racing Team have been
supported financially by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and sponsors,
such as Lincoln Electric, ZM Toruń, and Stelweld.
