The “DiverCITY – city for all” conference will
be held in Wrocław on September. The organizers are looking for volunteers
speaking English.
Participants
of the conference will discuss the topic of spatial planning. The programme
includes e.g. two lectures on model cities of the future, discussion panels on micro-changes
in cities and social participation in the shaping of urban space, as well as
presentations of the results of the research carried out by international and
interdisciplinary workshops, in which students and young professionals from
Poland, Norway, and Iceland took part. The workshops participants analyzed
spatial planning solutions applied in Nowe Żerniki - a new residential area in
Wrocław, and in Siechnice – a small town in the Wrocław area.
Also, trips
presenting interesting solutions in the fields of architecture, urban planning,
and revitalization in the Wrocław area have been planned. One will be able to
see, e.g. “Sępolno and the modernistic WuWA residential area as an inspiration
for the experimental Nowe Żerniki”, “Nadodrze – a process of revitalization of
a 19th century residential area in Wrocław in the years 2007-2013”,
“Siechnice – a new town next to Wrocław” and “Modernistic and late modernistic
architecture in the centre of Wrocław”.
The
conference will start on 10th September in the Wrocław Congress
Centre and will last until 12th September. The participants include members
of local authorities, architects, urban planners, specialists, and local
activists. The conference is organized by the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure
and Development, the Norwegian Ministry of Local Government and Modernization
and the City of Wrocław.
The
organizers are looking for volunteers that will support the organization of the
event. Candidates should be flexible in terms of work hours and present a
positive attitude toward the tasks assigned to them. They should also be active
persons and speak at least conversational English.
Candidates
should fill in an application form available at the conference website.
