20th edition of the Academic Career Expo has started at Wrocław University of Technology. Nearly 80 exhibitors will present their offer for the students. - I am looking for a good job that will be in line with my educational background – says Agnieszka Michalik from the Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering.
The exhibitors prepared comprehensive information for the students about student stays, apprenticeship and recruitment in their companies. - Most often we are asked about paid student stays – says Grażyna Kelly from 3M. She adds that after the previous edition of the expo the company received as many as 800 CVs. - For us, this is a tangible effect of this kind of promotion.
- Many employers are afraid of the approaching demographic low. Here they can be sure they will find people not only with a diploma but also with engineering knowledge – said Kamil Nawirski, President of the MANUS Foundation, co-organizer of the event, at the opening ceremony. - The expo is a kind of information exchange platform between employers and students. Students have the opportunity to talk with representatives of many companies in a friendly atmosphere, feeling almost like at home – says Ewa Żurowska, Academic Career Expo Coordinator. – They can also submit their CVs and thus initiate the recruitment process.
Joanna, who will soon graduate from the Faculty of Chemistry in the specialization of Bioinformatics, admits that unfortunately she did not find any offer for her. - They mainly look for programmers and IT specialists.
The expo was accompanied by a cycle of trainings for students, organized by the Wrocław University of Technology Career Office. As part of the Career Week, students could train impression management, learn how to cope with stress, and talk about career planning. - As usual, the CV writing consultations and workshops enjoyed the most interest – said Dariusz Piasecki from the Wrocław University of Technology Career Office.
On Wednesday, the second day of the expo, the results of the competition for the best employer presenting at the 20th edition of the expo will be announced. - Students may vote for their favourite. Among the voters we will draw a prize and the winning exhibitor will be offered a promotion programme at the University – said Ewa Żurowska from the MANUS Foundation.
