Before the participants started debating about key scientific, industrial, and political issues related to innovation, on Thursday morning they visited the MPWiK (Wrocław Waterworks and Sewage Company) headquarters.

This is not a coincidence that the agenda of the Congress started at MPWiK. Not only its headquarters neighbours the Wrocław University of Technology “Geocentrum” campus but also it actively cooperates with the University in the areas of research and implementing innovations.

Prof. Jerzy Buzek was one of the first participants of the Congress who came to the meeting at MPWiK. After a short presentation of the company, Zdzisław Olejczyk, MPWiK President and CEO, invited the guest for a tour of the company business premises. Prof. Tadeusz Więckowski, Rector of Wrocław University of Technology, was accompanied by Prof. Jacek Guliński, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education.

The main issue that will be discussed at the meeting in Wrocław is the reindustrialization of Europe. “This meeting has enormous importance not only for the University, as the host of the Congress, but for the entire Europe.” – says Prof. Eugeniusz Rusiński, the Wrocław University of Technology Vice-Rector for Research.

Over 500 people confirmed their participation in the Congress, including 40 prominent experts representing the European Commission and related institutions, as well as high-tech companies and R&D centres.
