500 participants, including 40 prominent experts representing the European Commission, high-tech enterprises, and European scientific and research centres: these are the figures of the European Technology Congress that will be held on 12th and 13th June at Wrocław University of Technology.
This is the most important European event dedicated to technology, innovation, and the cooperation between science and industry. The guests of the Congress include: Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, as well as the Commission’s directors-general for entrepreneurship and industry, and for research and innovation. The Programme Committee is headed by Prof. Gabriel Crean, Vice-President of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, and President of the EC’s High Level Group on Key Enabling Technologies.
The briefing announcing the Congress, with the participation of Prof. Jerzy Buzek, President of the Steering Committee, took place on 3rd June at the National Centre for Research and Development in Warsaw. “In the last few years, the industry in Poland has undergone radical changes. In many areas of the economy we have achieved huge progress. New technologies are today present in practically all branches, hence supporting innovation is so important for the improvement of the competitiveness of Polish economy.” – said Prof. Buzek.
Prof. Eugeniusz Rusiński, the Wrocław University of Technology Vice-Rector for Research and Cooperation with the Economy, said: “Today we can call Wrocław the Polish ‘Silicon Valley’. Many international corporations and research centres, are located around the city. Like IBM, which benefits from the knowledge of our IT specialists. I’m very glad that the European Technology Congress will be held at Wrocław University of Technology, which can boast an excellent cooperation with the economy, as well as the leading position in terms of the number of patents obtained.”
The European Technology Congress will commence on Thursday, 12th June, at 2 PM in the Wrocław University of Technology Main Building. The meeting is organized by the National Centre for Research and Development and the Polish Chamber of Commerce for High Technology, in cooperation with the European Commission and the Polish Ministry of Economy. Wrocław University of Technology is the host of the event.
