The race was held in the Wrocław University of Technology marina. During the qualification race on 300 metres, the Rugby Wrocław team couldn’t master the boat and, unfortunately, all the athletes fell into the water.
During the 150 metre finals there were no such surprises. The Wrocław University of Technology team proved unrivalled. For a few months, all the ten athletes have been training under the guidance of Paweł Rańda, the coach. “We aren’t total beginners but our capabilities are not good enough to enable us to start in the rowing eights competition. That’s why we opted for the dragon boats. They’re a bit easier to master and are moved using a different technique. We are very happy with this success and next year we expect to start in the professional rowing race.” – said Michał Chroł, student of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The Wrocław Medical University crew came second, while the University of Wrocław team took third place.
The medals and the cup were handed to the winners by Paweł Rańda – Olympic medalist and ambassador of the competition.
